Each platform uses its default settings (standard category and seller level). Fees on shipping are included where the platform charges them, and shipping is counted once whether the platform pays it out to you or buys the label with it. Open a platform's calculator to change its settings.

How to use the Marketplace Fee Comparison

  1. Enter what the item sells for and what it cost you.
  2. Enter what the shipping label costs and choose whether the buyer pays shipping or you offer free shipping.
  3. Read the table: every platform is sorted by the profit you keep, with its fees and payout alongside.
  4. Open a platform’s calculator from its name to change its category, seller level or other settings.

How each platform charges

The comparison covers 13 fee schedules. Here is how each one works in a sentence, and when we last checked it against the platform’s own pages.

VintedNo selling fees for private or Pro sellers: the buyer pays a Buyer Protection fee (5% + £0.70 on Vinted’s How it works page) and the postage, which buys your prepaid label.

Why the same sale nets different amounts

A headline rate hides three things. First, what the percentage is charged on: some platforms take their cut of the item price only, others of the whole order, including the shipping and sales tax the buyer pays. Second, fixed amounts: a per-order processing fee or a flat minimum fee weighs heavily on a cheap item and barely registers on an expensive one, so the cheapest platform for a $12 sale is often not the cheapest for a $200 one. Third, shipping: a platform that bundles a prepaid label with a flat buyer rate can be the best deal for heavy items and the worst for light ones.

That is why this page applies each platform’s complete fee schedule to your numbers instead of comparing rates. Change the price and watch the order move: the ranking at $10.00 is often not the ranking at $100.00.

Getting the most accurate comparison

  • Use the price you expect to sell at, not your listing price: offers, bundles and auctions change what the fees are charged on.
  • Enter your real item cost, including what you paid in fees or travel to source it, so the profit column is money you actually keep.
  • If you sell in a category with its own rate (sneakers, trading cards, electronics), open that platform’s calculator and pick the category; the table uses standard rates.

Frequently asked questions

Which selling platform has the lowest fees?

For a $50.00 sale of an item that cost you $15.00, with the buyer paying $8.00 shipping, Depop leaves you the most ($32.52 profit) and StockX the least ($23.50). The order changes with the price, so enter your own numbers above.

Why is the platform with the lowest fee rate not always the most profitable?

Platforms charge in different ways: a percentage of the item price, a percentage of the whole order including shipping and sales tax, fixed fees per order, or a flat fee below a price threshold. Who pays for the shipping label matters too. The table applies each platform’s full schedule to the same sale, so it shows what you actually keep rather than the headline rate.

How is shipping handled in the comparison?

Some platforms pay the buyer’s shipping out to you and you buy the label; others keep the buyer’s shipping and hand you a prepaid label. Either way, the comparison counts the label once, so a buyer-paid label that exactly covers postage costs you nothing, while free shipping comes out of your profit on every platform.

Which settings does each platform use?

Each platform’s default settings: the standard category, standard seller level and no optional extras such as promoted listings or instant payouts. Those change the fees, so open a platform’s own calculator to set them.

How current are these fees?

Every fee schedule is checked against the platform’s official fee pages; the table below shows the date each one was last checked and links to its calculator, where the sources are listed.
